FAQ

What goes into cost per head?

The purchase price or value at birth, feed (usually the largest item), treatment and vaccination, labour, and other costs such as water, power and transport. Add them up and divide by the number of animals.

Why calculate cost per head before selling?

The sale price alone does not tell you whether you made money. If cost per head is above the market price, every sale loses money even when the price looks good.

How can I lower cost per head?

Watch feed conversion, reduce losses, buy feed in bulk at the right time and sell in season. Throf shows which cost item is pushing your number up, from your actual expenses.
